I'm not Catholic. Can I still come to Mass?
Of course, you can. Don't worry if you are unsure of when to sit, stand, kneel, etc. If you are not Catholic, the only thing you need to refrain from is receiving Holy Communion. During Communion, however, you may walk forward with your forearms folded in an "X" across your chest (indicating that you are not receiving Communion) to receive a blessing.
How do I follow along at Mass?
On the back of the pews, there are missals called Breaking Bread. Mass begins on page 3. As you follow along, it will direct you to other sections for different parts of Mass. Give yourself some grace; with practice, you will grow into it and learn where to find the different liturgical parts. If you need help, after Mass, ask Father for further clarification, so the next time will be easier for you to follow along.
Where do I park?
There is a parking lot close to the church on the north side of the building. Another parking lot is at the NE corner of 5th & Cedar. Parking on the east side of Cedar Street and the south side of 5th Street is allowed; however, park at least 30 feet away from the stop signs.
What should I wear to Mass?
No one is turned away or judged because of what you are wearing. If you have the means, however, clean, modest clothes are appropriate.
Are children welcome?
Yes! The voices of little ones are a blessing! If children become distressed during Mass, there is a cry room where they can calm down.
If you haven't visited Sacred Heart School, consider arranging a tour to see what we have to offer.
Our children's religious education program, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, begins at age three.
I was baptised Catholic, but I haven't been to Mass in years. What should I do?
You are always welcome to come home. All you have to do is go to confession. If something is weighing on your mind, reach out to Father Clem.
What should I do if I need an annulment?
Contact Father Clem. He will guide you through the process.
I'm still unsure.
